10 ways to stay safe for Halloween
Marysville is perfect for trick ‘r treating! Just make sure that you do it safely. Here are 10 ways to stay safe this Halloween.
- Stay in large groups while you’re out and about trick ‘r treating in order to maintain greater visibility.
- Cross streets as a large group.
- Glow sticks and reflective gear will also help you be seen.
- Make sure to carry a cellphone for quick communication—but DON’T text while you’re out walking in the streets.
- If you are expecting to receive trick ‘r treaters at your front door, make sure to clear their path of any dangerous items/ tripping hazards.
- Make sure that your kids only go to homes that have a porch light on and never enter a home or car for a treat.
- Keep jack o’ lantern tools away from kids. Opt for having them draw faces on their pumpkins with markers instead.
- Stick to sealed candy only. Throw out anything without proper wrapping.
- Remember, you always have the option of handing out non-candy related items on Halloween, like fruit snacks and/ or coloring books.
- Make sure that, in all of the one-night-out-of-the-year candy binging, kids also eat a wholesome dinner!
