Honda enables you to Access Your Garage Door with myQ Connected Garage Technology
If you have ever had trouble programming your garage door to be compatible with your car’s built-in Homelink system or wondered if you remembered to close your garage door after leaving, Honda has the solution. And the solution may already be in your car. Rairdon’s Honda of Marysville is happy to announce an arrangement between Honda and MyQ Connected Garage that will simplify the arrangement between the garage door opener and your Honda or Acura.
Applies to both New and Recent Honda Models
Select Honda and Acura vehicles, including more than six million already on the road, will now enable their owners to open, close, and monitor compatible garage doors through the vehicle’s in-dash display, using Chamberlain Group’s myQ Connected Garage in-vehicle service. The service will be available as a free 30-day demo subscription through the HondaLink and AcuraLink vehicle apps. MyQ Connected Garage is the first vehicle-integrated cloud-based solution for garage control that requires no new vehicle hardware to be installed within the vehicle.
“Through HondaLink and AcuraLink connected services we can add valuable features and functions for our owners, in many cases even in vehicles they’ve been driving for years. We are committed to continuously expanding the range of those connected services and features,” said Raj Manakkal, assistant vice president of the Digital Services Development Division at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “myQ Connected Garage is a great example of a strong cloud-based value-add for our customers, requiring no new vehicle hardware so the owner can opt-in to this feature at any time.”
No Line of Sight Needed
Currently, whether you use a garage door opener’s remote or the Homelink button in your car, you have to be within line of sight of the garage door for opening or closing action to take place. Through myQ connected, the door can be opened from around the corner, or you can even set up a geofence in which it will automatically open when the car approaches or close when the car departs.
Most garage doors have sensors that, upon closing, will reopen if the sensor is blocked. Unless you watch the garage door close entirely, it is possible that something as simple as a blowing leaf will trip the sensor and cause the door to open again. It can stay open the whole time you are out, and you will not know until you return. The mQ Connected Garage system lets you check your garage door status anytime and can even alert you when it is opened when you are away. You can then close it if you choose, no matter your location. This is enabled by communicating through the cloud and interacting with your car and smartphone.
MyQ Connected Garage is available in all 2023 and 2024 Honda models through their standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ interfaces. Millions of older Honda and Acura models supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be compatible. The myQ Connected Garage interface works with nearly all garage door openers currently on the market today. Wi-Fi-enabled openers can connect immediately, while older garage door openers from multiple brands can be easily upgraded to compatibility with a myQ Smart Garage Control device, which is included in Honda’s free 30-day demo subscription.
“myQ Connected Garage is enhancing that well-known experience by offering drivers a more convenient way to check, open and close the garage door from anywhere with mobile data service. What’s great about myQ Connected Garage is you’ll never have to turn the car around to check if the garage door was closed.” said Jim Trainor, senior vice president and general manager of Automotive for Chamberlain Group.
This is an added value to nearly all new or recent Honda owners with a compatible garage door opener. Talk to one of our sales professionals at Rairdon’s Honda of Marysville for details.
