Will there be a hybrid option?

The biggest and most asked question is as to whether or not the 2024 model year will finally be the one in which a hybrid powertrain returns to the Honda Civic family of vehicles. While we don’t yet have many details, Honda has confirmed that a hybrid variant will indeed be available for the 2024 model year! No, this hybrid model will not replace traditional gas-only models, but rather expand the nameplate’s offerings.

What variants are available?

The Honda Civic Sedan is the traditional style of the vehicle, but you can opt for the sportier Civic Si Sedan, the roomier Civic Hatchback, or the best of both Civic Type R.

What powertrain options are available?

The powertrain that your Civic runs on will depend on which variant and trim level you choose. As stated, we don’t yet have any details on the hybrid powertrain, but we can go over the other models. A 2.0L 4-cylinder engine powers the Civic Sedan LX and Sport trim levels, as well as the same trims for the Civic Hatchback. It can generate 158 horsepower alongside 138 pound-feet of torque.

The EX-L and Sport Touring trim levels of each are instead powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that boosts power to 180 hp and 177 lb-ft. of torque. A similar engine also powers the Civic Si Sedan, though it’s capable of generating 200 hp and 192 lb-ft. of torque. Finally, the Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with an intercooler. It delivers an impressive 315 hp alongside 310 lb-ft. of torque.
