What does CPO mean? 

In the context of used vehicles, CPO stands for Certified Pre-Owned. The term pre-owned stands for “previously owned,” so a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle is a particular class of used car.

Most brands will have some type of Certified Pre-Owned program, including Honda. Put simply, a CPO vehicle stands out from the rest as one of the best used cars available from that brand. In order to be considered a Certified Pre-Owned car, a vehicle must meet certain criteria. In order for a Honda vehicle to be considered Certified Pre-Owned instead of just a regular used car, it must meet certain expectations. For Honda, this means that the vehicle must, first of all, be newer than five years old and have fewer than 80,000 miles.

Moreover, the vehicle must pass an inspection to ensure it is of the quality expected in the CPO program. After all, age and mileage don’t tell the whole story. Honda puts its potential CPO models through a 182-point inspection, and the vehicle will need to pass to receive the CPO designation.
